If you wish to join the MI Audio mailing list just send a quick email with your name and country to:

  • 30.04.07 Blues Pro - The Blue Pro now has a new look with white knobs replacing the old black knobs. The Blues Pro is one of our favourite pedals and we have always seen it as the perfect partner for the Crunch Box. • 30.04.07 New Products - Like we have stressed already to many, 2007 is going to be a big year for MI Audio with a number of products to be released. The delay pedal is back on schedule again but while we have no date for release yet we will soon have a working prototype. • 07.06.2006 New Endorsers added: We're very excited to announce that the amazing Paul Dempsey from Aussie band Something for Kate, and blues master Dave Hole are now using our pedals.

I've been a huge fan of Something for Kate for a long time. They're undoubtedly one of the most prominent bands on the Australian music scene. I was, like most people, drawn into SFK's music by Paul's amazing voice, but dig a bit deeper, and you'll find amazing song writing and poetic lyrics, performed by one of the best live bands I've had the pleasure of seeing. I know that many of our international customers probably haven't come across Something For Kate before. I'd seriously recommend that you check these guys out. Seminal modern Australian music.

Dave Hole,... well if you're into blues and you haven't heard of this guys, you're missing out on one of the most energetic, powerful blues guitarists,... oh yeah, and you should check out his slide technique! Wow,...

  • 08.02.2006 Pedals out of Stock: As of today, we have no Blues Pros or Tube Zones in stock. I expect these to be available again in late March/early April.

  • 05.03.2006 First Crunch Boxes nearly sold out: You were warned that these little gems were going to sell quickly! But not even I could foresee just how popular this pedal was going to be. My first batch of 500 has nearly sold out in 3 weeks. I expect the last few to be finished within the next week or so, so if you are contemplating getting your hands on a Crunch Box, I'd suggest you take the plunge soon. They won't be available again till mid April.

  • 08.02.2006 Blues Pros out of stock!!!!: I went out on a limb with the Blues Pro, and purchased parts for a 1000 pedals, thinking that this would last me at least 2 years. They sold out in 5 months. I expect more parts in April. Sorry guys!

  • 08.02.2006 Crunch Box now shipping: Finally! Crunch Boxes are ready. Thanks to all for your patience. Check out the products section. If you're interested in getting one, I'd hurry if I were you. I expect my stock to sell out in about 3 months. You've been warned!

  • 20.12.2005 Tube Zone out of stock!!!!: Ahhhhh!!!! I've just finished the last of the Tube Zone cases. Orders have increased dramatically, and I was caught out. I have placed an order with the manufacturer for more, but unfortunately, they're quite busy and won't be able to supply me with more for a while.

  • 06.12.2005 MI Audio News: Well, things have been crazy around here. I've finally made the move to my new workshop, which is considerably bigger than the space I was using previously. I am also very excited to now be working with my first employee. Thanks to all for your support, which has given me the opportunity to take this next leap. I am hoping that turn around times will halve after the new year, so hopefully I will be able to get the pedals out to you quicker.

Next year is going to be an exciting year for MI Audio with the launch of a whole bunch of new products. With the release of the Crunch Box, this will be the end (for the time being) of OD/Fuzz/Distortion pedal releases. I'm really excited by this line up, which include a simple low gain pedal (Blues Pro), a complex low gain pedal (Blue Boy), as well as simple and complex high gain pedals (Crunch Box and Tube Zone respectively). Of course, there are also 2 flavours of Fuzz pedals as well, silicon (GI Fuzz) and Germanium (Neo Fuzz). I am currently working on a very interesting phaser/vibe pedal, as well as 2 different booster designs, an analog delay, compressor, tremolo/modulator, chorus/flanger.

  • 06.12.2005 Update on New Pedals: The cases for the new pedals have arrived. I am still waiting on knobs for the Crunch Box, which should be here by late December. The Classic Distortion and the Blue Boy Deluxe are awaiting PCBs which should be here by mid January. Stay posted for any more updates!

  • 05.09.2005 Red Cross fundraising pedal - "Classic Distortion": One of my greatest fears is the possibility that MI Audio might one day stop being a passion, and become instead a "business" in the 'pure' sense of the word,... in other words, a way for me to make money regardless of ethics or social and global responsibility. I'd hate to get to the end of my life to realise that all I did was 'make money'. So given the overwhelming things that have happened in last year, the two most prominent being the Boxing Day Tsunami, and now, the destruction of New Orleans, and I feel more impassioned than ever to try to do something about it.

So I am releasing a limited edition pedal, the Classic Distortion with 100% of the profit going to the Red Cross. It's the most feature packed and comprehensive pedal I've ever made, and features same amazing clipping design as the Crunch Box Distortion (see below). However, I've added so many other features, it could possibly be the most flexible dirt box ever made. It has the standard Drive and Volume, as well as my unique Character control, as found on the Tube Zone and Blue Boy, a clipping Symmetry control for going from symmetrical to asymmetrical clipping, a 3 band EQ featuring a passive tone stack with Low, Mid, and High, and finally a Presence control for overall top end content. Yep, 8 controls! This thing will get you basically any tone you want. And the whole thing is housed in an MXR sized enclosure! It should start shipping in December, and will only be available from the MI Audio website. US$199.95.

  • 05.09.2005 New Crunch Box Distortion coming soon: If the 'Blues Pro' is a baby Blue Boy, then my new Crunch Box Distortion can be likened to a baby Tube Zone. Bucket loads of gain, and has a frequency response similar to an old plexi driven with a treble booster. You have to hear this thing to believe it! I've sent out about a few prototypes to friends, and their response has been overwhelming. I've never had a response this positive before, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the CB is going to be my most popular overdrive/distortion pedal! All the same high quality features of my other pedals, and the great news is that it's only going to cost US$99.95! Drive, Tone and Volume. It's a wonderful high gain mate for the Blues Pro. Starts shipping in December

  • 05.09.2005 New Blues Boy Deluxe coming soon: I finally made a decision about the Blue Boy,... and it's coming back bigger and better than ever. It still retains the same great tone, the major difference being that I'm going to make all the internal controls external, and it will look similar to my fuzz pedals with two large controls ('Gain' and 'Volume'), and 4 small controls ('Character', 'Tone', 'Mids', and 'Brightness'). In terms of changes, I improved the old 'voicing' control to make it operate on the mids exclusively (instead of mids and highs,... I felt that there was too much overlap with the tone control in this respect), and hence I renamed it 'mids'. I've also bumped up the output volume by a factor of two for even more punch. Finally, I found the ultimate IC for the Blue Boy,... the LM1458 IC, which is sooooo smooth. That's going to become the stock IC in the Blue Boy Deluxe. I expect the BBD to start shipping in December. The price should stay the same, hopefully! Here's a picture of my prototype. Note that the finish and printing will be different.

  • 22.07.2005 New pedal - Blues Pro Overdrive: Well, inspired by the Star Wars prequel thing, I've released my own prequel to the Blue Boy, the Blues Pro. This was the original limited edition prototype pedal that I released about 18 months ago. You know you're onto a winner when the pedal is selling on the second hand market for considerably more than the original retail price. Now you can have the sound of the original Blues Prototype,... for US$89.95. This is neither a joke, nor a printing mistake. A hand-made Australian boutique overdrive pedal for the price of a mass produced overdrive. More info can be found in the products section.

  • 22.07.2005 Endorsers and Retailers updated: Once again, I've been really slack keeping the website up to date. Finally got some time to update the endorsers and retailers page. Welcome to Doug Rappoport, Marco Sfogli and Shawn Christie! Also, you can get MI Audio pedals in more places now,... including the Netherland, and Greece, as well as more US and Australian retailers.

  • 15.05.2005 Blue Boy Out of Stock: I've run out of Blue Boy enclosures, and it will be for another few months before I get more cases in, so for the time being, the Blue Boy will be unavailable. But,... Keep your eyes open for a new blues overdrive which will hopefully be out soon, the Blues Pro. The Blues Pro is in fact one of the original Blue Boy designs, which I release about a year ago in limited numbers, as the Blues Prototype and it was a huge success. It has a slightly different character to the Blue Boy, a bit more grit to the tone. I still get a few questions a week asking me to make one,... so watch out, it's coming back, but this time with full production features!

  • 09.05.2005 New GI Fuzz and Neo Fuzz Samples added,... Well, as always, let me preface this by apologising for my playing. I'm not trying to impress you with my chops (because I have none), but rather to demonstrate the features of these pedals. Right. Ready for it,... well head over to the products section dog-gone-it,...

  • 26.04.2005 The GI Fuzz and the Neo Fuzz are finally here!: I've finally ironed out the last of my sourcing issues, and the GI and Neo fuzz pedals are in production, 4 months behind schedule, but here at least! You can find info about them in the products section of the website.

  • 26.04.2005 Endorsers updated: Lots of great musicians have picked up my pedals, and I've got a huge list of people who've allowed me to use their names on my website. I've update some of the information on the users page, but there's still more to go. Thank you to all the musicians who've kindly allowed me to list them. Thank you for your patience. Running a one man show means that there are a lot of balls to juggle, and it can get a bit trick sometimes!

  • 30.11.2004 Tube Zone Demo by the Amazing Brett Garsed!!!: Mr. Brett Garsed, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest guitarists in the world today has been using the Tube Zone overdrive for the last few months. I spoke to Brett about the possibility of recording a short demo of the pedal, thinking that he'd record a few seconds of guitar noodling. In a few days later, he sent me a 5 minute jam song that he 'whipped up' at home!!! Mon Dieu!!! I was walking around in a daze for the next few week, not only at the monstrous guitar playing, but at the amazing generosity of this guy. What a gentleman! You can check out the Tube Zone Demo here. Please visit Brett's site for more information about this amazing musician. I promise you, you won't be disappointed!
